# Rásttigáisá: The Sámi's Sacred Mountain Awaits You Do you want to conquer Finnmark's 13th highest peak? Rásttigáisá at 1066 meters above sea level is a magical summit hike that starts in beautiful birch forest and gradually leads you up towards the sacred mountain that dominates Tanadalen. For the first 3.5 kilometers you walk through pristine nature before you meet the Dárjohka fording points. Here you must wade – or find a narrow spot further up to jump across. Along the way you pass small stream valleys that make the route surprisingly easy to follow. After the birch forest, larger stones and easy terrain await. A well-marked trail – with red marked shortcut all the way to the summit – makes navigation easy. From the summit, views over Levajok and the plateau reveal themselves. You stand on the easternmost of Finnmarksvidda's great mountains, at a place that has been sacred for centuries.
