Open in Komoot →# Rihtávárri – Skarnesåsen: History's Viewpoint Want to combine nature experiences with war history? The summit hike to Rihtávárri – Skarnesåsen by Tanafjorden is perfect for you. The start is easy: follow the gravel road until it ends, then walk 250 meters along the shore before the trail takes you upward. At Skarneset-hytta, the slightly wilder section begins – the trail winds up the mountainside with varied terrain, but is well-maintained in the steepest sections. The most exciting part? A Russian aircraft wreck from World War II lies by the cairn – a silent testimony to the time of war. At the summit, beautiful views await over Smalfjorden and Tanafjorden. The 3.3-kilometer route is relatively easy, but wear good footwear – soft sections demand respect. A hike that offers both views and reflection.
